Mirabilia Ars is an online external peer-reviewed international journal from the Institut d'Estudis Medievals (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain) which provides articles, documents and academic reviews produced by scholars of the fields of Art, Aesthetics, Cultural Sciences and Humanities. This publication is devoted to the concept of Interdisciplinary Studies, which is expressed in the essential relationships between the works of art, the aesthetic theories and the cultural products with the ideas, beliefs and ways of life of the actual society in which those were produced and used. This journal covers a time frame going from the Antiquity and the Middle Ages to the Renaissance and the Baroque period.
Mirabilia is a Latin word which means “admirable things” or “wonders” and comes from the Latin verb mirare, i.e. “to look at”. Therefore, the name of this journal evokes the admirable aspects of Art, Aesthetics and Culture ( Ars) as a splendid manifestation through which we can look at the outstanding, integral development of mankind.
