The passions in Plato's The Republic and Ion: possibilities of philosophical inquiry
Jan G. J. TER REEGEN and Ana Alice MENESCAL
Original title: As paixões em A República e Íon de Platão: possibilidades do pensar filosófico
Keywords: Aristocracy, Ion, Passions, Plato, Republic.
This article analyzes Plato's arguments regarding passions. In Ion, Plato proposes that passions are something poetic, beautiful and necessary to man, in The Republic something that takes man away from the path of reason, making him lose his strength. That is why the philosopher defends the banishment of poets from his republic. It is worth noting that The Republic is one of the texts that best reflects the aristocratic origin of Plato. The object of analysis proposed here are the passions in two dialogues: a Socratic (Ion) one and another of the philosopher’s maturity (The Republic).
Oedipus at Colonus by the light of Aristotelian ethics philosophy
Jan Gerard Joseph TER REEGEN and Tito Barros LEAL
Original title: Édipo em Colona à luz da filosofia ética aristotélica
Keywords: Aristotle, Ethics, Prudence, Sophocles, Tragedy.
The main purpose presented in this article is to analyze how the Sophoclean works influenced the Aristotelian ethical thought construction process. In order to conduct this analysis, the tragedy Oedipus at Colonus is used to arouse the discussion on central questions in the ethical thought of Aristotle, such as practical wisdom, caution and prudence. Therefore, it was necessary to re-compound the transition route between the political-mythical thought, expressed in the mythical temporality of the tragedies, and the political-ethical thought, experienced in the Athens daily routine during the fifth century B.C. However, it is not the proposal of this article to establish an evolutionist analysis concerning the Greek philosophical knowledge construction process. Since this process was done by human efforts, so it is a historical product, it is not a purpose of this work elaborate any kind of validation about one or another way (mythical or ethical) of comprehension, behavior and action. Thus, herein is offered a comparative view between these two possibilities in order to understand how one contributed to the construction of the other one.

Mª Ángeles JORDANO BARBUDO
Original title: La Capilla Real de la Catedral de Córdoba y su repercusión en las fundaciones nobiliarias durante la Baja Edad Media
Keywords: Cordoba Cathedral, Mudejar, Royal Chapel, inscriptions, reforms.
The Royal Chapel, completed under Henry II of Trastamara in 1371, exerted a powerful influence on the nobility in Cordoba, which in its monumental buildings, be they funerary chapels, palatial houses or castles, adopted the Mudejar style as an expression of ostentation and power. Such glorification of their lineage can be seen in the representation of their coats of arms above the entrances to the halls and in their private chapels, decorated with plasterwork inspired by the flamboyant decoration of the Royal Chapel, whose excellent state of conservation is due to various reforms carried out between the 16th and 19th centuries, as has been shown by the inscriptions we have discovered on the base of the arches of the vaults and which we would like to make public in this article.

Only when human being will recognise His presence in the deep of soul, finding the similarity with Him in the dissimilarity of himself and of all creatures, will be possible to experiment the true nobilty and the end of alterity between deus absconditus and His masterpiece of creation.

The mansion’s origins go back to the 14th and 15th centuries, a time when the Lord of Fuencubierta bought a group of old 14th century houses from Teresa Carrillo which had formerly belonged to Leonor López, widow of the Lord Treasurer of Andalusia, Miguel Ruiz, and which he converted into his main residence. The aim of this work is to make a record of the houses during the late Middle Ages in connection with the Fuencubierta Manor and Estate, before it was rebuilt in Renaissance times to become the Estate of the Lords of Villaseca.

One of the essential elements of the whole Political Philosophy of Dante Alighieri was your considerations about the aristocracy and the nobility. For him, the two notions are different although in a certain way they correspond to the same matters. This aristocracy, however, it will only reach the divine talent that is the true nobility if it be educated according to the parameters of the Aristotelian philosophy. It is this, in fact, the ethical theme of the Convivio. In Commedia, Dante persists in these ideas. It is exactly for this reason that he reserves the Limbo the great wise persons of the Antiquity. In the one of Monarchia, he treats of the relationships between the supreme nobleman, the emperor, and the princes, the private noblemen that lead the human crowds.
